Summer is passing and sales are slow, but your Board remains quite busy. We have successfully negotiated a reduced rent for one year on the Gallery space, and are busy submitting grant requests for 2009.

The Art League Gallery of Hilton Head presents ART OF THE LOWCOUNTRY, a show of 17 renowned artists portraying their impressions of the essence of the beauty that surrounds us. The show opens with a reception on Tuesday, August 12 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Art League Gallery in Pineland Station, Hilton Head Island. The exhibition runs from August 11 through September 6. Join us for refreshments and meet all the artists!

“Art of the Lowcountry allows viewers to choose from 17 different interpretations of Lowcountry landscapes by artists, who specialize in Lowcountry scenes. This show is a ''must see'' for lovers of Lowcountry art,” says Terry Brennan. “Our beautiful surroundings turn on my creative juices. The marshes, beaches and boats, all plead to be painted and I try to follow that call,” adds Evelyn Kowtko.

We plan to repeat our GOT ART? fund raising event this fall. If you recall, last year's fund raiser was very successful and helped us over a difficult financial time.

The summer session is winding down. The fall brochure is being prepared and will be in your hands shortly. This fall, in addition to the usual teacher exhibit, Ted Jordan's summer Open Painting students will be displaying their work. Art will be available for your viewing after September 9th until mid November.
