We've just completed two great events. The Arts&Flowers Show was a huge success and the National Juried Show, although short on sales, had the highest attendance in years. These successes were due to our Art League artists and program volunteers. Thanks to all of you!

The Art League of Hilton Head will be presenting “The Art of Abstraction”, a special presentation of large abstract paintings by ten of the League's leading abstract artists. There will be an opening reception on Tuesday, June 10 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Gallery in Pineland Station. The public is invited.

SUMMER DREAMS, a gallery wide ART LEAGUE show, and The Whole Box of Crayons - recent jewelry creations by CAROLINE ALDERMAN opens with a reception on Tuesday, July 15 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Art League Gallery. The exhibitions run from July 14 through August 9. The Public is invited to meet the artists.

Many of you may have wondered, what's up with the large, beautifully painted urns in the Gallery?

Here's the scoop: This project is a joint program between the Island Beautification Committee and the Art League of Hilton Head.
A total of five urns were painted by the following artists, who volunteered for this project: Terry Brennan, Mary Ann Hart, Ted Jordan, Vickie Jourdan&Mary Kelly. Each of them did a wonderful job! Thank you!

The urns will be decorated with flowers and placed on display on the Island for the summer. Later they will be sold and the proceeds go to the Island Beautification Committee and to the Art League Scholarship Fund -- if you are interested in purchasing one, please contact Ann Clayton - 681-1956.

The summer session began the week of June 2nd. Our summer teacher exhibit is available for your viewing during our regular class hours. In addition, the Academy is highlighting student works from instructor Joyce Nagel's Impressionistic and Abstract Landscape class.
