This fall, in addition to the usual teacher exhibit, Ted Jordan's summer Open Painting students will be displaying their work. Art will be available for your viewing after September 10th until mid November.

Mark your calendar for our ACADEMY ANNIVERSARY OPEN HOUSE on Saturday, October 11th from 12 noon until 4 pm. A gala event is being planned to mark our FIFTH year in operation! In addition to light refreshments, we will have a raffle with some class sessions being offered to the winners, or a painting. There will also be demonstrations by teachers including Yostie Ashley, Joanna Chalson, Donna Ireton, Mary Kelly, Don and Joyce Nagel, Uschi Niner, Jane Norris, and Lynda Potter during the Open House; and some photos to share as we look back at our five years together.

Other dates of importance are Thursdays beginning September 18th through November 20th from 12:20 to 1 pm. The Academy is again running “Lunch with the Masters” where participants bring their brown bag lunch and enjoy wonderful DVDs of the world's most famous artists viewed on our new larger screen HD/TV. Programs will be posted on the Art League/Academy web page and at the Academy. It is free and open to everyone!

We continue to work diligently to provide valuable class offerings. Your support will insure continuance of the Academy and these varied choices. Bring your neighbors and friends who have been hesitant about our classes. Let them know how much fun we have and how they would enjoy a new experience. Who knows? They may be our newest artistic find!

The majority of our weekly classes begin the week of September 15th. Besides our usual courses which include acrylics, oils, pastels, watercolor, drawing, open painting, masters, one stroke (beginning and advanced), and life drawing, we will be offering Expanding your Vision as a Painter; Drawing/Plain and Simple; Faces and Figures; Sculpture (Slab and Waste Mold Casting); Drawing: From A to Zee; Plein Air; and Landscape/Beachscape for the True Beginner Using One Stroke.

We have some short workshops in Acrylic Painting, Creative Paste Papers; Learning Photoshop; Photography; Cake Design; Gum Paste Flowers; Airbrushing for Cakes; and Learning Matting and Framing Techniques. For children, we will offer a puppet playshop (ages 6 and up) and storytelling with puppets (ages 6-12) on two Saturdays. Various courses run from one half day to twelve weeks, and classes are available through December 12th.
